Public Relations and Stakeholder Engagements activities

During the year under review, CXC hosted a number of stakeholder engagements across the region. These included:

January
Press conference in Barbados on 21 January to announce successful commencement of e-testing.

February
Participated and presented a session at the Barbados Association of Guidance Counsellors Annual Career Showcase on 2 February at the UWI, Cave Hill Campus.

AR-PICS made a presentation at the McMillan Caribbean Sales Conference held at the Accra Beach Hotel.

March
A testimonial video on CCSLC was produced and distributed.

A meeting with overseas business partners was convened on March 9 and 10 at CXC Headquarters in Barbados.

April
Three focus group meetings were held with private education providers in Jamaica, Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago during the week of April 25-29.

May
The Caribbean Examiner magazine was published and the issue was a tribute to Dr Desmond Broomes.

A meeting was held with stakeholders from across the region to discuss the Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA) on 12 May. Participants represented, teachers, unions, ministries of education and parents.

June
CXC hosted a one-day meeting of tertiary institutions from across the Caribbean at its Headquarters in Barbados on 8 June.

Participated in the 6th form fair hosted by the Lester Vaughn School PTA on 17 June at the St Michael School. CXC mounted a booth and also made a presentation to parents and students.

July
The CXC Mobile Connect App was launched in Barbados on 26 July and in Guyana on 31 July with events at the Sky Mall and Giftland Mall respectively.

August
A press conference was hosted in Barbados on 14 August to announce the 2017 May/June results

A workshop for parents and third formers was held at the UWI Cave Hill Campus on 19 August. It attracted over 150 participants.

CXC sponsored a two-day CAPE® Performing Arts workshop in collaboration with the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination at the Cave Hill Campus on 24 and 25 August. Over 50 participants from several Caribbean states participated. The workshop looked at dance, drama, music and film.

September
The Registrar and Pro Registrar visited Bermuda and met with ministry of education officials and principals of two high schools on 7 and 8 September.

A meeting was held with primary schools’ principals in Barbados on 21 September at CXC Headquarters.

October
A meeting was held with secondary schools’ principals in Barbados on 24 October at CXC Headquarters.

The second issue of the Caribbean Examiner was published and distributed. The issue focused on School-Based Assessment (SBA).

November
The CXC Customer Service Charter was published.
