Building Teachers Capacity
In an effort to build capacity to ensure teachers are equipped to deliver its syllabuses effectively, CXC hosts a number of training programmes, combining face-to-face with ICT in delivering the training. The following represents capacity-building efforts undertaken by the Syllabus and Curriculum Division in 2017.
Teacher Training and Orientation Workshops
Teacher Orientation Workshops were held in six territories to introduce teachers across the region to new and revised syllabuses in 2017. Ministries of Education in the territories with the largest candidate populations were asked to co-host the workshops by providing a suitable venue and refreshment for local participants. Teacher Orientation Workshops were held in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Guyana, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago. Workshops were conducted for the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination® (CAPE®) Literatures in English and the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate® (CSEC®) Business Cognate (which includes Economics, Principles of Accounts and Principles of Business), English and Mathematics syllabuses.
Webinars were conducted online for the following subjects:
- CAPE® Chemistry (Belize)
- CSEC® Chemistry (Saba)
- CSEC® Geography (Saba)
- CSEC® Mathematics (Saba)
- CSEC® Physics (Saba)
- CSEC® Visual Arts (Saba)
