During 2018 the emphasis was on selected stakeholders, namely employers, third and fifth form students and their parents. In addition, efforts were made to build the relationship with private institutions offering CXC qualifications.
The following represents some of the major initiatives undertaken during the year under review:
APRIL
11 – 12 April – Stakeholder meetings in Antigua and Barbuda – Meetings were held with third and fifth form students and their parents on Wednesday and Thursday respective. Other tertiary institutions such as Antigua State College, UWI Open Campus, Antigua Institute of Technology and ACCA were invited to participate in the events. Meetings were also held with the Antigua and Barbuda Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the Employers Confederation.
20 April – Launch of CXC Customer Service Charter: A brief ceremony involving students, teachers, parents, employer’s representatives and the media was hosted on April 20 to launch the CXC Customer Service Charter. In conjunction with the National Initiative for Service Excellence (NISE), the charter was developed as CXC’s commitment to quality service delivery to customers.
AUGUST
10 August – Release of Results – The annual official release of results was hosted in Grenada at St Georges University Campus in conjunction with the Ministry of Education. Principals, CXC resources, former top awardees from Grenada, representatives from St Georges’ University and the media attended the event.
15 and 16 August – Private Education Fair – Dominica. In collaboration with the Ministry of Education in Dominica and three private educational institutions CXC hosted the first private educational institutions fair on 15 and 16 August 2018. The three institutions are Business Training Centre, Lead Institute and Academix. The fair was held outside Jays Bookstore, the main bookstore in Dominica, on Independence Street.
20 August – Meeting with Caribbean Association of Principals of Secondary Schools. A one-day meeting was held with principals and executive members of CAPSS. During the meeting, CXC presented two sessions: Raising academic achievement and CXC e-strategy.
SEPTEMBER
10 and 11 September – Stakeholder Engagement, St Lucia. Four stakeholder meetings were held in St Lucia in conjunction with the Ministry of Education and other partners including ACCA, UWI Open Campus and Sir Arthur Lewis Community College. Meetings were held with third and fifth form students and their parents in Castries and Vieux Fort.
17 – 18 September – Stakeholder engagement, British Virgin Islands. The Registrar met with students, parents, national committees, and ministry of education officials.

19 and 20 September – Stakeholder engagement, Trinidad and Tobago. Four stakeholder meetings were held with third and fifth formers and their parents. Two meetings were held at Bishops Anstey East High School on 19 September and two meetings at Naparima College, San Fernando. ACCA, the Ministry of Education and COSTAATT participated in the engagements.
20 – 21 September – Stakeholder engagement, Anguilla. Meetings were convened with representatives from the Anguilla Community College and Comprehensive Learning Centre, the Anguillan Department of Labour and Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
28 September – CXC hosted a one-day meeting with employers attended by human resources professionals from Governments’ Human Resources/Personnel Administration Departments and the private sector, from Employers’ Confederations. The one-day employers’ engagement was aimed at providing employers with accurate and up-to-date information to assist them in making more informed decisions when recruiting persons with CXC qualifications.
OCTOBER
3 – 5 October – Stakeholder engagement, Dominica. Over a three-day period, the Registrar attended stakeholder meetings in the Commonwealth of Dominica. He met with Ministry of Education Officials, Principals and Deputy Principals of Primary and Secondary Schools, Secondary School Teachers, Parents of primary and secondary school students, representatives of the Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce, Dominica Employers’ Federation, Public Service Commission and the TVET Council.
16 – 18 October – Stakeholder engagement, St Lucia. The Registrar met with Dr the Honourable Gale Rigobert, Minister of Education, Innovation, Gender Relations & Sustainable Development and the Director General and Staff from the OECS Commission. At both meetings, he provided an update of the CXC short and long-term goals. The Registrar also attended a site visit to the Montessori Centre in Rodney Bay.
Examinations Administration and Security Division
EAS continued the monthly meetings with Local Registrars under the chairmanship of Director of Operations. In keeping with the customer charter, efforts were made to reduce the average time for resolving issue submitted by markers during the e-Marking session as well as turning around the delivery of request for Transcripts and replacement Certificates. We continue to work on improving our response to customer tickets as by end of the third quarter, we were only able to meet the Service Level Agreement on 46% of the department’s tickets.
