Teacher Orientation Workshops were held in six territories to introduce teachers across the region to new and revised syllabuses in 2018. Ministries of Education in the territories with the largest candidate populations were asked to co-host the workshops by providing a suitable venue and refreshment for local participants. Teacher Orientation Workshops were held in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Guyana, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago. Workshops were conducted for the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination® (CAPE®) Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Law and the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate® (CSEC®) Information Technology, Music and Theatre Arts syllabuses.

The Syllabus and Curriculum Development Division “LIVE” Teacher Orientation workshops were conducted for the following subjects:


A new initiative called SCD Live was implemented this year which allowed stakeholders to ask questions of syllabus officers and get answers in real time. This was hosted online to support syllabuses from all levels.
