REGISTRAR’S ENGAGEMENTS

As Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of CXC, the Registrar maintains a busy schedule of stakeholder engagements, meetings with policy makers and representing CXC at various fora. The following represents the Registrar’s schedule in 2018:

29 – 2 
Jamaica 

The Registrar met with several key stakeholders including the Minister of Education, the National Parent Teacher Association and the Education Committee from the Jamaica Teacher’s Association and the Overseas Examinations Commission

February

Martinique 

The Registrar attended the 3rd Council of Ministers of Education Meeting and presented on “Regional Examinations: A Comparison of the CPEA and the Common Entrance”

Trinidad

The Registrar represented CXC and gave brief remarks at the launch of the Cricket West Indies and Scotia Kiddy Cricket Academic Manual “Chirpy’s Classroom Adventure”

The Registrar conducted stakeholder meetings with representatives from

  • the University College of the Caribbean
  • the Jamaica Library Service

The Registrar also met with IDB Representatives to discuss CXC applying for a grant under the Regional Public Good Proposal initiative to implement Blockchain technology at the Council

The Registrar represented CXC at the Technical Assistance Programme for Sustainable Energy in the Caribbean (TAPSEC) meeting

The Registrar held stakeholder meetings with the Ministers and Commissioners of Education in three islands of the Caribbean Netherlands
 
The Registrar met with representatives from City and Guilds representatives to discuss the CXC Associate Degree CXC-AD®.  Meetings were also held with officers from the Council of Community Colleges

The Registrar represented CXC at the 8th Meeting of the Secretary-General, Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and Heads of Community Institutions

The Registrar met with the Minister of Education Dr the Honourable Nicolette Henry and other Ministry officials

The Registrar held stakeholder meetings with the Vice Chancellor, Registrar and other officers at the University of Guyana

The Registrar worked from the Western Zone Office when he conducted his quarterly visit to that AOC.  He also held external meetings with:

  • One-on-One Educational Services Limited [provider of FlowStudy, FlowStudy Live and FlowStudy for classroom in partnership with Cable & Wireless International Limited]
  • the Inter-American Development Bank
  • the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean
  • the Jamaica Library Services
  • the School of Education, UWI Mona

Registrar attended the Opening Ceremony of the 39th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the CARICOM and meetings associated with that conference

The Registrar participated in the ceremony for the official release of the 2018 examination results

Lesotho

The Registrar met with the Examinations Council of Lesotho (ECoL) to advance the discussions for collaboration between the ECoL and the CXC as outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two institutions in August 2014.  Meetings were held with the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, Directors as well as ECoL Subject Officers

United Kingdom

The Registrar attended the 44th meeting of the International Association for Educational Assessment (IAEA) Conference. Meetings were also convened with UK-based business partners RM Results and Stephen Austin & Sons Ltd

Virgin Islands

The Registrar attended stakeholder meetings in the Virgin Islands and Anguilla.  He met with Ministry Executive personnel, primary and secondary school teachers and parents of primary and secondary school students.

Anguilla

Meetings were also convened with representatives from the Anguilla Community College and Comprehensive Learning Centre, the Anguillan Department of Labour and Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the British Virgin Islands Chamber of Commerce and Hotel Association, its Department of Human Resources and the National Guidance Counsellors’ Association

Commonwealth
of Dominica

Over a three-day period, the Registrar attended stakeholder meetings in the Commonwealth of Dominica.  He met with Ministry of Education Officials, Principals and Deputy Principals of Primary and Secondary Schools, Secondary School Teachers, Parents of primary and secondary school students, representatives of the Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce, Dominica Employers’ Federation, Public Service Commission and the TVET Council

St Lucia 

The Registrar met with Dr the Honourable Gale Rigobert, Minister of Education, Innovation, Gender Relations & Sustainable Development and the Director General and Staff from the OECS Commission.  At both meetings, he provided an update of the CXC short and long-term goals.  The Registrar also attended a site visit to the Montessori Centre in Rodney Bay

The Registrar and a technical team from CXC conducted post-examination cycle review meetings with business partners from the following companies:  Stephen Austin & Sons Limited, RM Results and Inspera Assessment

The Registrar met with principals from the Oxford University Press (OUP) while attending OUP’s annual Caribbean sales conference
