The Social Activities Committee has embarked on a drive to whip up support for DWAD 2012 scheduled for Friday 26th October. The Committee is seeking to kindle a friendly competitive spirit among staff and promote full participation as we build community in our organization across all levels and divisions.

With point up for grabs every week, the competitive spirit was kicked into full gear on 28th June 2012 when staff were officially drawn to create three teams. Staff was put into four categories, Male Support and Ancillary, Female Support and Ancillary, Male Principal, and Female Principal, from which names were drawn randomly to create the Gold, Green and Red Teams.

Teams have been seeking to outdo each other in healthy competition, to establish their unique identity as the most creative, community-minded and industrious collection of CXC staff members. The Green, Red and Gold Teams have evolved into the Gold Warriors, Green Mean Machines and Red Stingers!

On the road to 26th October 2012, several competitive events were held. They included karaoke, table tennis, road tennis, bus-yuh-brain, walk/run relay, darts, and scrabble competitions. Teams competed fiercely in the events, and supporters across all divisions and levels of staff were in full force!

At the grand finale at Weiser’s on the Bay, the teams competed in various sporting and novelty events, including small goal football, water balloon toss, sack races, lime and spoon races and tug-of-war. The karaoke finals were also held on the final day of competition.

In the end, the Red Team came out on top, followed by Green Team in second place and Gold Team placed third.

WZO DWAD

The staff at the Western Zone Office (WZO) enjoyed their Day with A Difference at the Sunset Jamaica Grande, Ocho Rios on the 28th September. The Employee of the Year at Headquarters, Heather Herbert was a special guest of the WZO staff. Members of staff ate breakfast in Kingston and were then transported by Knutsford Express to Ocho Rios. Activities included dominoes, table tennis and basketball, and other team-building activities. By all reports, the day was a success and accomplished the goal of building team spirit and camaraderie.
