Second Chance Education ProjectUSAID Strengthening Second Chance summary. An agreement was signed with USAID for approximately US$ 4 million funding of a programme for “Strengthening Second Chance Education in the Eastern Caribbean”. AdvertisingAdvertising revenue is being generated from our website as well as the publication of the Caribbean Examiner magazine. The revenue is just below breakeven with the cost of producing the magazine. It is expected that the revenues will continue to grow. Financial Management System for Line ManagersIntroduction of a system of financial management for line mangers to enhance decision making is in the early development stage. The progress was not as fast as anticipated. Some training has been done for line managers and a new reporting system is being developed. Publishing in collaboration with Nelson ThornesPublishing of self-study guides with Nelson Thornes continued into 2012 with several new titles published and others in progress. This collaboration has started to generate revenue for the organisation. In-House printingThe majority of SBA, Oral and Practical examination forms are being printed in house along with the answer booklets. Significant savings are being realised from this initiative. Reduction of Marking CostThere has been a reduction of marking cost by allocating subjects to the least cost venues. The cost associated with marking subjects in the four venues were reviewed in 2012 and as a result of this review, several subjects were reallocated to be marked in lower cost centres. |
