Dutch Delegation

CXC hosted an 11-member delegation from the Dutch Caribbean territories of Sint Eustatius and Saba in Barbados on 29 and 30 January.

The team was on a fact-finding mission to gain a better understanding of CXC and its examinations. This, following recommendations that the language of instruction in schools in St Eustatius changes from Dutch to English and that the island adopt the CXC examination structure as an internationally recognized system in the English language.

While in Barbados, the team met with CXC officers representing various divisions to gain a better understanding of CXC and its examinations and qualifications.

Members of the delegation spent observing teaching of various CXC offerings at The St Michael School and meet with the principal and other senior school officials to discuss how CXC programmes are implemented.

ACTI

AR (PICS) present a paper entitled “UKNARIC International Benchmarking of CCSCL” at the ACTI Conference in Bermuda in February.

AACRAO Conference

AR (PICS) presented a session at the AACRAO International Conference in Baltimore on the New Generation CAPE subjects. During the conference several meetings were held with various universities and colleges about CAPE and specifically about granting transfer credits.

Education USA

CXC hosted a team of Education USA Advisors from the OECS and officers from the US Embassy in Barbados in August. The CXC team updated the Advisors about the new Generation CAPE subjects, and the recognition of CSEC and CAPE qualifications.

CAPE in Dominica

The Registrar and AR (PICS) visited Dominica in September and met with the Dominica State College on the issue of introducing CAPE. The meeting was held with the President and Registrar of the state college.

Meetings were also held with the two private CAPE providers in Dominica; Lead Institute and Business Training Centre.

College Fair

CXC once again participated in the Trinidad and Tobago College fair in October. During the two-day event, CXC interacted with students, parents and university and college representatives.
