One run was needed from the last ball of the final over. Field is set to save the run and the plan is to throw the ball to the stump where the slower runner is headed. Only thing is that this is sport and things don’t always go as planned.
The annual CXC staff versus CXC markers was held on Sunday 17 July at the Bayland Cricket ground in Barbados. Batting first, CXC staff made 86 for 7 over their allotted 15 overs. Ayodele Pompey top scored with 26 runs. In reply, the markers made 87 for 7 off their 15 overs. The winning run came in the final ball of the 15th over. The completion of the run brought much netbet jubilation, singing and dancing to DJ Bravo’s “Champion” song.
Please people let us be pragmatic and look at things objectively. Did CXC staff really thing they could beat the markers especially having Physical Education and Sports Professionals? No Sir we are what the region has in the start of the power house Sports culture and therefore good strategist in sports have the secret and cannot be beaten so wheel and come again CXC staffers.
Well done markers. Wish we can have a CxC T20. Series in the Caribbean. Good for sports tourism.
