The 2017 January sitting of the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) was no ordinary sitting. It was in fact a historical sitting with the first live e-tests being taken by 500 candidates from seven territories.
Candidates from 18 countries took 13 subjects. The subjects offered at the January sitting were Biology, Chemistry, English A and English B, Human and Social Biology, Information Technology, Mathematics, Office Administration, physics, Principles of Accounts, Principles of Business, Social Studies, and Spanish. At total of 34, 570 subject entries were entered for by 16, 568 candidates. Trinidad and Tobago submitted the largest number of candidates with 10, 151, followed by Jamaica with 2885, and Barbados with 1058 candidates.
