The Caribbean Examinations Council has renamed its Knowledge Resource Centre at its new Headquarters in Barbados in honour of a long-standing Caribbean educator who has served CXC for over 40 years. During the meeting of the Administrative and Finance Committee (AFC) held on Friday 17 June, AFC approved the proposal for the renaming of the centre Desmond Broomes Knowledge Resource Centre.
Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, Chairman of CXC said that naming the Knowledge Centre in Dr Broomes honour “is an excellent recognition of a career well served to the region and CXC in particular.”
Professor Eudine Barriteau, Principal of UWI Cave Hill Campus, UWI’s representative on the committee, also welcomed the development. “UWI is in the process of developing a minor in Mandarin Studies and establishing an official testing centre, so we welcome this articulation between CXC and the UWI.”
Well deserved!
May his inspiration continue nurturing minds and cultivating successes for overarching achievements.
Awesome ! He touched so many lives across the region! Worked in Grenada with the first set of secondary teachers to be trained. I was one of the guinea pigs.
