The CCSLC took centre stage during the meeting with parents and third form students. It was explained that CCSLC is a foundation programme which seeks to develop communication skills, critical-thinking skills and problem-solving skills. It has portability and prepares students for Grade 10 in the US, UK, Australia and Canada. Students who achieve Competent or Master in CCSLC Mathematics have an 84 per cent chance of gaining Grades I, II or III in CSEC Mathematics. Parents indicated that they now have a better understanding of what CCSLC is trying to accomplish and its worth. The meeting also agreed that critical thinking is an issue for Caribbean children that needs attention.
