Welcome to the official web site of the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC). CXC is the leading examinations body in the Caribbean, providing a suite of examinations to 16 English-speaking territories and some of the Dutch-speaking islands for over 30 years.

 CXC Pays Tribute to Professor Rex Nettleford

 The Caribbean Examinations Council records with profound sadness the death of former Vice Chancellor Emeritus of the University of the West Indies, Professor Rex Nettleford.

Professor Nettleford was a strong advocate of the creation of a Caribbean Civilization, of which the Council Examinations Council is a critical pillar. Read more

Successful Council Meeting in the BVI

The Council hosted its 41st meeting in the picturesque British Virgin Islands on Friday 4th December 2009, at the Treasure Isle Hotel. The meeting was chaired by Professor Nigel Harris, Vice Chancellor of the University of the West Indies and Chairman of CXC.

Council received the 2009 Annual Report presented by Dr Didacus Jules, CXC Registrar. Dr Jules highlighted the major achievements under the goals of the Strategic Plan 2008 to 2010.
Among the highlights were the increases in candidate and subject entries for CAPE, CCSLC and CSEC May/June examinations in 2009; a four-percent improvement in performance at CSEC; the revision of three CSEC and three CAPE syllabuses; the development of a new syllabus for Additional Mathematics, which will be examined for the first time in 2012;  and the technological transformation that is taking place at the Council; a pilot project on electronic marking and the formation and work of the Business Development Unit.

Regional Top Awards

The opening ceremony and presentation of Regional Top Awards for outstanding performances in the 2009 CAPE and CSEC examinations were held at the HLS Community College’s Auditorium on Thursday 3rd December.

Honourable Andrew Fahie, Minister of Education and Culture in the British Virgin Islands delivered the feature address. Minister Fahie said CXC is a very significant institution in the Caribbean region. He said for CXC to remain relevant it must constantly review its processes and ensure its examinations meet the needs of the region.

CAPE French and Spanish Notice

The Caribbean Examinations Council(CXC) advises the public that the format of the CAPE Paper 01 examinations in French and Spanish is currently under review. Consequently, the short-answer format will remain in place at least until the May-June 2010 examinations. When the revision has been completed you will be informed of any changes made.
